Overview of Four Seasons Papagaya, Costa Rica

The Four Seasons on the Papagoya Peninsula has been totally refurbished in December 2017 to the tune of 35 million bucks and it is the only Forbes Travel Guide five star luxury resort in Central and South America.

If you are looking for the ultimate in relaxing luxury, the Four Seasons could well be the destination of choice.

Why is Four Seasons, Papagayo A Family Paradise?

#1. Kid’s programs

This hotel is nestled in the dry forest of the Papagoya Peninsula and is a perfect place to take your kids, the resort boasts two complimentary programs for your family’s entertainment. The Kids for all Seasons program will keep your 4-12 year olds engaged, busy and happy (while the two of you can spend time with each other!)  If you have teenagers, there is also the Tuanis Center, where they can hang out, play pool and socialize.

#2. Family Fun

There is a great list of things to do at the Four Seasons:

• Artisan exhibit – local craftsmen exhibit their work
• Beach football
• Beach soccer
• Beach volleyball
• Bird watching
• Cooking demonstration
• Golf and tennis clinics
• Hiking
• Horseback riding
• Kayaking
• Sailing
• Scuba diving for beginners
• Snorkelling

Any of these activities could be a perfect way to have some quality family time (and, as a bonus, wear your kids out so that they sleep well at night!)

#3. Babysitting Services

You’ve had your quality family time all day and then, come the evening, you want to chill out with your partner.  You can totally relax, knowing that your kids are in safe hands with the babysitting service at the Four Seasons, Papagayo.

That gives you time to sample the restaurants and an adult beverage or two!

My recommendation would be to sample the local drink, Cacique Guaro, this recipe for a Guaro Sour comes straight from Tico’s bar at the resort:

Ingredients:

2.5 oz. of Guaro Cacique

2 oz. of simple syrup

1/2 lime (cut into 4-6 wedges)

Directions:

Combine the ingredients in a rocks or old fashion glass and muddle until the limes have been fully juiced. Fill remainder of glass with ice and garnish with a sugar cane stick (optional).

Or, if you’re feeling brave and want a spicy hit, how about sampling a Chili Guaro?  (If you want to get some practise in, the recipe is here).

I’d then recommend heading off to the Caracol Restaurant where you can enjoy a great steak.

Like I mentioned, I wouldn’t recommend this resort if you are vacationing with your buddies, BUT if you have times when you want to spoil your family, the Four Seasons, Papagayo is an ideal taste of eco-luxury for you and all of your loved ones.
