Best Products to Clean Your Grill

Best Products to clean your grillHave you ever been to a friend’s house and their grill looks like it has never been cleaned? Today I want to talk about the best products to clean your grill so it won’t look like “that friend’s grill.”

At the end of summer I do a deep clean on my grill. By the time I’m finished it looks brand spanking new. I cover it up and when the spring rolls around, it’s ready to dust off and go. I don’t have caked on ooy – gooy leftovers from last summer. That’s just plain nasty.

After I take my steaks off the grill or whatever I am cooking, I don’t shut the lid and walk away. Letting the leftover crumbs, sauce, and juices stay until next grilling session can lead to bacteria growth. I clean the barbie after each use. After I’m finished grilling, I leave it on for a short while longer and allow the sauce, juices, and food to cook down (If you’re forgetful, set an alarm on your cell phone). By no means do you want to forget to turn off the propane.

Tips for a gas grill.

Once I’m ready, I turn the burners off and shut off the propane. While the grill is hot, I dip my favorite brush into a small amount of water and scrub the grill. This gives it a steam clean. If you’re not a fan of using a little water on your gas grill, then you may want to use a grill stone to clean. It doesn’t require water. You can use the brush and steam clean on a charcoal grill too.

What I love about this brush is the design. The slant and the length of the handle works great for me! I’ve used many brushes, and this is one of my favorites. After the grill is cool, I clean and wipe down further with Citrisafe BBQ Grill Cleaner. I like that this product is non-toxic, biodegradable and phosphate free.

Make sure the brush, stone, or chemical you choose is appropriate for your grill grates.

There are other products that you may choose to use, especially if you are like my friend who has a build up on his grill from not cleaning in between uses. Here are some of the tried and true spray on grill cleaners. You may as well grab a cocktail or two, because this is a waiting game.

No matter what you use, it’s going to take some elbow grease.

Final Thoughts

If you want your grill to stay sparkly clean, take my advice and clean it after each use. You have an amazing patio for entertaining. I am sure you don’t allow your patio furniture to get dirt and debris built up on it, then why would you ignore something you eat off of?
