Once midlife hits, well, it eventually gets to a point sooner or later that a midlife crisis hits, too. Like, you start questioning your choices, by it style, your job, your hobbies, how you present yourself your appearance, sometimes your family, and you want to make lots of chances be it riding in style in a new car, changing your wardrobe, dying your hair, growing a beard, new career, flat out just moving to a whole new location where no one knows you, well, you get the point.

But for a lot of people, they usually just try to make upgrades here and there, like their car.

It’s not too uncommon for people to look into sports cars, convertibles, classic cars, a motorcycle, or even some crazy off-road vehicle, even though they don’t live near any rural dirt roads. But you obviously want to spend your money wisely here. So, what could you consider if you want to upgrade your car during mudlife?

The Real Midlife Upgrade is Comfort

Well, it’s comfort that feels super relieving, that’s the goal here. But a midlife upgrade car should have is comfort that’s genuinely noticeable, not “nice in theory.” Meaning it should be the kind of comfort that makes driving feel easier, quieter, calmer. Yeah, that’s not flashy in the slightest. It’s not loud and grand like a loud sports car. But why have a flashy, uncomfortable car you spent tens of thousands on, when you’re literally uncomfortable on it? The same can be said for motorcycles, too!

How Much Should You Realistically Spend?

Again, there’s the joke of fancy sports cars, maybe an expensive trip to Japan, totally clearing out your wardrobe for new clothes, and those are already really expensive. So, when thinking about day-to-day life here, how much can you actually spend? Usually, the whole midlife crisis energy goes wrong right here. Well, it’s the “treat yourself” mindset without the “can this be maintained” mindset.

But your shopping habits and research can help here, well, if they’re thorough at least. Some people fall into endless scrolling, while others start locally to compare options in person, like doing a quick search for a BYD dealer near me, so the choices stop being abstract and start being real cars you can sit in, because it’s harder to make an impulsive decision when you’re actually thinking about your real routine. Well, it should be at least.

Drop the Idea of Fantasy Life

Which might be the most boring and harsh part of all, but yes, you absolutely need to think about this too! You absolutely shouldn’t think about the car you want to have for the life you want to have, because it’s not going to be all that realistic to actually achieve that life. Like, if you have a family of four, why buy a sports car that only has two seats and no back passenger seats, right? Well, that’s an example here at least.

It Needs to Make Your Life Easier

No, not to look cool and grand, but to actually make life for you much easier. Again, life still goes on even during this “crisis,” so you still need to think about yourself and your family on a day-to-day basis here.
