Try penang assam laksa, rojak or nasi lemak for just a few ideas – you’ll soon experience a huge range of flavors and preparations. As a tourist you are free to drink, and you’ll mostly enjoy European lagers as they seem to be the predominant choice.

Malaysia is set in one of the most dramatic parts of the world, geographically speaking, with rolling hills and mountains in addition to the sea. According to The Culture Trip, you can enjoy ATV rides out of Kuala Lumpur, bungee jumping in Selangor, and ziplining in Sabah. Malaysia has made itself a tourist playground in recent years, and so there’s huge opportunities to be had for a little fun.

Malaysia, given its distance from the US, is not the first place that springs to mind for a boy’s holiday.
